Reference checking for THUAS, research prototype

About

Hallucinated references? CiteSure verifies them.

AI writing tools invent references that look real. CiteSure checks every single one against real databases, so nothing fabricated gets through.

How it works

1
Extract
2
Check
3
Report

References are extracted from your file or pasted text, checked against THUAS HBO Kennisbank and global scholarly databases, then reported in five downloadable formats.

Built for agents

An API sits behind CiteSure. Plug it into NebulaOne, the THUAS AI chat platform, or any agentic research and writing workflow.

What it checks against

THUAS work is checked via SURF Sharekit, the repository behind HBO Kennisbank and Publinova. Everything else is checked against OpenAlex, Crossref and Semantic Scholar.

Built on RefChecker

CiteSure is built on the open-source RefChecker engine by Mark Russinovich, adapted with Dutch and HBO improvements.

Know ours limits

  • .bib and .tex are reliable, structured formats.
  • PDF extraction is heuristic. Scanned PDFs are not supported.
  • Checking is slow, every reference is checked live.
  • Entries the parser cannot read are flagged, not dropped.

This is a research prototype. Heavy simultaneous use may crash it. For feedback or improvements, email Amey Vasulkar at anvasulkar@hhs.nl.
